Progression

As time goes by,
We've watched you change;
Progressing ever,
Never staying the same.

The familiarity that once
Twinkled in your eye,
Seems gone from us now,
In this long good-bye.

An emptiness
Has taken its place,
Now so distant,
Awaiting His Grace.

We thank the Lord
For each day you are here,
In our aching hearts,
You are forever dear.

When the suffering comes,
As we know it will,
We can't imagine the pain ~
We'll be loving you still.

We'll pray when that day is here
For the strength to let go,
To watch you walk toward
The light with its beckoning glow.

And through our tears
We'll know deep inside,
That your peace has finally come ~
It's the end of our ride.
